The Dundee Bahá'í community recently welcomed over 50 friends and neighbours to a vibrant Naw-Rúz celebration at the Roseangle Gallery. This special occasion, marking the Bahá'í New Year and the arrival of spring, brought together people from diverse backgrounds in a spirit of joy and unity.

The gallery was transformed into a lively gathering space where participants enjoyed a traditional Scottish ceilidh with spirited dancing throughout the afternoon. The walls of the art gallery resonated with laughter and music as dancers of all ages joined hands, creating circles of friendship beneath the paper chain decorations that had been made by the children.

The band, Crossed Connections, played traditional ceilidh tunes and their leader capably called the dances for us to follow. A buffet spread sustained everyone between sets, with fresh flowers beautifying the tables. On each bunch was attached a quotation, beautifully decorated, that read:

Happy Naw Ruz! "Soon the whole world, as in springtime, will change its garb. The bleakness of the winter time is over. The new year hath appeared and the spiritual springtime is at hand." (Abdu'l-Baha.)

On leaving, guests were given the flowers with the quotation attached.

"Naw-Rúz represents renewal and new beginnings," shared one of the organisers. "It's a perfect opportunity to strengthen community bonds while celebrating the diversity that enriches our city."

This Naw-Rúz celebration not only honoured a significant Bahá'í holy day but also demonstrated how shared festivities can strengthen community bonds and promote unity in diversity—a testament to the community's ongoing contribution to Dundee's vibrant multicultural landscape.
